Oliver Chong > 2008.05.09 - Day 27 : My parents are in town for my birthday and to organize the garden at their house here in MA. I took the day off work to help them with the yard work and while I was there, to take some pictures. This picture is from the front of the house at the cherry tree. It is quite an old tree with a lot of character and this year completely full of blossoms. One of my tasks for the day was to prune the lower shoots and remove the dead branches. I will post other pictures of the yard later in the weekend once I have chosen my favorites.
Oliver Chong > 2008.04.15 - Day 3 : I am a huge fan of the light box and the look it produces. I actually started off with a different idea using strawberries and blueberries, but it will have to wait for another day after some more thought. I guess the real question here is, who's following who?
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.19 - Day 68 : Irene started a new job on Monday so i got her some flowers. They provided for another nice organic shot. Jeremy always says I should use the story telling apertures more so here's another. I normally won't go above f/11 due to diffraction, but I tried a range of them. I couldn't discern any quality loss in the shot so I went with f/22. Another back fill. A bit of an artistic photo... of art.
Oliver Chong > 2008.04.27 - Day 15 : My beautiful girlfriend was kind enough to pose for today's picture. It's a very overcast Sunday in MA, but it makes for nice natural lighting.
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.10 - Day 59 : Inspired by Ratatat, a band that was featured on a recent All Songs Considered episode. All Songs Considered is a program that airs on NPR and has recently become one of my favorites. Ratatat is a duo from New York that creates electro-rock. Take a listen to a track from their upcoming CD, Lp3. --- I am going to make changes to my self imposed rules. Several times now I have taken photos, but been too busy (or away from a computer) and as a result, not uploaded a daily photo. I am now going to allow myself to back fill as long as the day being filled in, is the same day the photo was taken. It was in hindsight silly to impose an upload rule on myself. So, look for missing days to be filled soon.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.16 - Day 34 : Irene and I went out to the pet store this evening to buy food for Charlie our pet cockatiel. While looking at the toys, Irene noticed this soft tubular pouch. Anyways, we ended up buying it and Charlie immediately took to it. He has no problem hiding inside of it singing to himself.
Oliver Chong > 2008.07.04 - Day 83 : We considered going to Boston to see the fireworks along the Charles river, but that would have been incredibly hectic and would have made for a long trip back home. Instead we went to Lowell and watched the fireworks at the Merrimack river. We are positioned probably about a half mile down the river from where they are being launched. It was a pretty nice display that went on for about 20~25 minutes. This is one of my favorites because it not only has some of the aerial shells, but the fountains as well. I got quite a few shots that I am happy with. Enough to make a gallery with I think. Unfortunately, leaving the field where we were parked my car was hit. My poor Rav4, not a scratch on it until now. That put a damper on the night. Oh well, insurance will work it out and I will get a new bumper.
Oliver Chong > 2008.04.14 - Day 2 : I tried this shot with and without the hands. With the hands is far more compelling and greatly helps to balance the fact that almost everything else in the scene is on the gray scale. The picture was taken at 10mm for the distortion effect which i actually hoped there to be more of. P.S. triggering the shutter with your foot isn't the easiest thing to do...
Oliver Chong > 2008.09.15 - Day ? : Sometimes the sky looks amazing at night. Storm clouds were leaving the area on the night of the full moon producing this scene. Not an HDR.
