Who knew sand castles could be so tasty?! This went down a lot easier than those I remember as a little kid...

The couple I posted a picture of earlier in the year were married today. Congrats Ryan and Jenna! The reception was held just over the bridge on to Cape Cod.

I'm not too happy with the technical aspects of this picture, but the subject was super. There's only so much you can do with on camera flash.

I took a few days off photographing for life and because I wasn't feeling very creative. I got this little Japanese toy at a store in Northampton, MA while I was still in college. The green guy's head moves side to side - powered by solar cells.

For this shot I used overhead flash lighting.

Irene started a new job on Monday so i got her some flowers. They provided for another nice organic shot.

Jeremy always says I should use the story telling apertures more so here's another. I normally won't go above f/11 due to diffraction, but I tried a range of them. I couldn't discern any quality loss in the shot so I went with f/22.

Another back fill. A bit of an artistic photo... of art.
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.07 - Day 56 :

We flew in to Columbus this morning and sat around at Elliot's apartment waiting for our parents to arrive. In the evening we went to Short North (an area of Columbus) for the gallery hop. Unfortuneately we were so tired we didn't make it to many of the galleries and the entire area was packed with people.

This picture was taken inside of one of the galleries. I've cropped it pretty heavily and applied the Orton effect to it. Care to guess what it is?
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.18 - Day 67 :

Irene's parents were kind enough to bring us some planters of herbs. Three BIG planters and two tomato plants. The lighting this evening was nice and diffuse, perfect for this shot. I really liked the contrasting textures and shapes.

This is a 5 exposure HDR gone black and white.

I have also edited my first back fill picture. I am starting with a photo from Elliot's graduation. Sometime soon I will get all those photos online.... or so I will keep telling myself.
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.16 - Day 65 :

Other things have had my attention recently. This is a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) on the back of a hard drive.

Unfortunately, the Celtics couldn't close out the series tonight so it's time to head home. Go Green!
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.12 - Day 61 :

Just an experiment with shallow depth of field and foreground brokeh.
Oliver Chong > 2008.06.10 - Day 59 :

Inspired by Ratatat, a band that was featured on a recent All Songs Considered episode. All Songs Considered is a program that airs on NPR and has recently become one of my favorites.

Ratatat is a duo from New York that creates electro-rock. Take a listen to a track from their upcoming CD, Lp3.

I am going to make changes to my self imposed rules. Several times now I have taken photos, but been too busy (or away from a computer) and as a result, not uploaded a daily photo. I am now going to allow myself to back fill as long as the day being filled in, is the same day the photo was taken. It was in hindsight silly to impose an upload rule on myself.

So, look for missing days to be filled soon.

I quite like this picture.
