Experimenting simulating a lens I would love to own. The TS-E.
With a bit of work, Photoshop can produce a very similar effect. Overall, I am very happy with the result.

Winter weather strikes again!
This is why I stayed home today. It started off snowing heavily in the morning and since noon it has switched to sleet and freezing rain.

Today our 44th President was sworn in to office.

Irene's coworker held a party to celebrate the inauguration. Some of the people there assembled this poster on the wall. The original art is by Shepard Fairey and is now hung in National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Museum.

Fairey has an exibit opening in Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art and he will be DJing a event in early February that we plan to attend.

The iPhone handled the low light better than I expected. It just needed a bit of noise reduction.

Yesterday's snow stayed sitting on the trees overnight. I always love the way this portion of my drive to work looks. Usually it has quite a bit of traffic, but this morning with it being Martin Luther King Day I was alone. So, I slowed down to almost a stop and took this shot. Unfortunately, I didn't wash the window clean before the photo.

I am impressed by the amount of detail and fairly accurate color the iPhone captured.

It has been snowing hard here all day. Before we made our way over to the grocery store I grabbed the camera and had Irene pose in the snow. She's so cute.

I had the on camera flash fire, but I think it was too small to give the catch light I was looking for. That and it was bright diffuse light outside so Irene's pupils were very contracted. I intentionally let the camera over expose and got exactly what I was looking for.

I also took a few 4 seasons photos, but I haven't had time to sort through them yet. If you return here later I will link to them.

Today was Saurabh's birthday so his wife Purvi organized everyone together for dinner at Lowell Beer Works and then to their place for drinks and games.

The game we are playing is Apples to Apples. Here Saurabh is attempting to convince Phillipe that his Red Apple is most like the Green Apple that was dealt. The game is a lot of fun and can get quite lively as people argue for their card.

By far the best non-business phone you purchase these days is the iPhone. A fully capable browser (minus Flash) and an application store provide nearly limitless opportunity. The next best thing would be an Android phone, but unfortunately only one exists so far and it is only available on T-Mobile. A Blackberry has excellent hardware, but sadly their software is comparatively poor with an antiquated OS that was only masked in recent phones with new graphics, when it really needs a complete overhaul.

The iPhone isn't without its faults however. In particular, the lack of Copy & Paste and no way to run background processes stick out like a sore thumb.

Keeping with the recent theme of lines and curves, I chose to take a macro shot of a leaf from the Calla Lily i photographed on the first day.

I was short on time or I may have tried to focus stack...
Oliver Chong > 2009.1.13 - Day ? :

The view from our new apartment is far superior to what the old one offered. Moon and sun rises, Boston in the distance, and curvy roads.

This is a portion of the entrance to the apartment complex. I stood on a foot stole for over a half hour capturing the cars as they passed.

This photo ended up being my favorite. I really like the variance in color and the sweeping separation of the car lights. This shot actually looks excellent in black and white as well, but the colors won me over in the end.

Listening to Bon Iver kept me going.
