Oliver Chong > 2008.05.18 - Day 36 : We went for a walk today at the Lime Quarry Reservation just 2 minutes down the street from where I live. It was a lime quarry from around 1736 and operated for about 100 years. I have jogged in to it a few times, but not very far. We walked the longest trail and found out it is much larger than we originally thought. Just by chance i managed to see this toad a foot or so off the path. It is probably the largest toad I have ever seen in MA. I did some research on toads in the area and I believe it is a Fowler's Toad, but it could be an American Toad. We also saw many chipmunks and a few different birds. Next time I visit I plan to look at the side trails and see if any lead to the areas where the quarrying occurred.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.17 - Day 35 : We went to Boston's South End today for the Sowa Open Market. When we got there, we found out that next to the parking lot an art walk was happening. It was inside an old mill like building that had been half way renovated. They lost power several times so we were looking at the artwork in almost darkness. The building was very photogenic, but unfortunately I didn't have my tripod, nor would it have been very appropriate to set it up in the middle of the showing. This picture is from the building's outside where it faces a some studios. There were a series of these Monopoly-like artwork, but a few had been torn. Someone (perhaps the original artist) came along and added these band aids on the ones that had been damaged. For reference of scale, each of these 'cards' were ~5' tall.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.16 - Day 34 : Irene and I went out to the pet store this evening to buy food for Charlie our pet cockatiel. While looking at the toys, Irene noticed this soft tubular pouch. Anyways, we ended up buying it and Charlie immediately took to it. He has no problem hiding inside of it singing to himself.

Oliver Chong > 2008.05.14 - Day 32 : I decided to play with two color lighting for today's picture. The blue is from a gelled flash and the orange from a tungsten bulb. These shots sure are difficult to take by yourself...
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.13 - Day 31 : Irene makes another appearance here. I wanted to see what I could get with a long exposure and lighting from only the computer monitor. In post processing i ended up with something that I thought was kind of interesting. To me it has a somewhat vintage look and texture.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.11 - Day 29 : Another photo from in the yard at my parents house. These are the leaves of that beech tree i spoke of. Today is my birthday. Thanks to everyone for their wishes.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.10 - Day 28 : I was back over at the house today taking many pictures. This carpet of Lily of the Valley live underneath a 300+ year old Beech tree.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.09 - Day 27 : My parents are in town for my birthday and to organize the garden at their house here in MA. I took the day off work to help them with the yard work and while I was there, to take some pictures. This picture is from the front of the house at the cherry tree. It is quite an old tree with a lot of character and this year completely full of blossoms. One of my tasks for the day was to prune the lower shoots and remove the dead branches. I will post other pictures of the yard later in the weekend once I have chosen my favorites.
