2008.04.15 - Day 3 :

I am a huge fan of the light box and the look it produces. I actually started off with a different idea using strawberries and blueberries, but it will have to wait for another day after some more thought. I guess the real question here is, who's following who?

2008.05.09 - Day 27 :

My parents are in town for my birthday and to organize the garden at their house here in MA. I took the day off work to help them with the yard work and while I was there, to take some pictures.

This picture is from the front of the house at the cherry tree. It is quite an old tree with a lot of character and this year completely full of blossoms. One of my tasks for the day was to prune the lower shoots and remove the dead branches.

I will post other pictures of the yard later in the weekend once I have chosen my favorites.

2008.04.27 - Day 15 :

My beautiful girlfriend was kind enough to pose for today's picture. It's a very overcast Sunday in MA, but it makes for nice natural lighting.

2008.04.14 - Day 2 :

I tried this shot with and without the hands. With the hands is far more compelling and greatly helps to balance the fact that almost everything else in the scene is on the gray scale. The picture was taken at 10mm for the distortion effect which i actually hoped there to be more of.

P.S. triggering the shutter with your foot isn't the easiest thing to do...

2008.04.16 - Day 4 :

I've noticed this clock several times in the past so when my girlfriend and I went in to Lowell for dinner this evening it became the subject of my first few shots. In the end I found this the most interesting picture of the evening. If you can't read the two plaques, "Installed January 1914".

2008.04.25 - Day 13 :

Alright, back to using my 350D.
Here I wanted to experiment with using HDR along with other edge enhancements to create an image that really popped. With all the other photos I have posted there have hardly been any adjustments made. The only light source is the one you see in the image. This is formed from five exposures in 1EV increments - taken with my 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5.

2008.04.20 - Day 8 :

The magnolia bush at the entrance to my apartment complex bloomed and since I missed taking a picture of its flowers last year I had to take one this time around.

2008.04.13 - Day 1 :

The first photo in my attempt to take at least one keeper everyday for a year. In this shot I loved the shape of the flowers and how they are nearly identical twins. They also fit in nicely with the season as it only has just started getting warm enough for spring flowers in MA.

*edit* I mistakenly stated this photo was taken on the 14th, but it was actually the 13th. My EXIF is wrong because the camera was still set to Japan Standard Time.

2008.04.30 - Day 18 :

Time to balance out the last two inorganic subjects...

With all the rain we has the last two days I was surprised the cherry blossoms survived. There are quite a few trees nearby that are in bloom.

2008.05.13 - Day 31 :

Irene makes another appearance here. I wanted to see what I could get with a long exposure and lighting from only the computer monitor. In post processing i ended up with something that I thought was kind of interesting. To me it has a somewhat vintage look and texture.
